Biography
Robert graduated from Ohio Northern University with a BM in Flute Performance, a BA in Creative Writing, and a minor in German. He went on to Morehead State University to earn his Master of Music in Flute Performance. While at MSU, he co-taught the Freshman flutes, assisted a Freshman theory class, and worked in the music office. His primary teachers were Lucy Altstaetter, Dr. Erin Torres, Dr. Jennifer Cooper, and Dr. Heather Small. Robert has appeared in the masterclasses of Katherine Borst Jones and Eva Amsler. As a clinician, he has presented at the Kentucky Flute Festival, the Mid-Atlantic Flute Convention, the Greater Cleveland Flute Society, and local schools.
Robert teaches flute lessons from his home in Lorain, OH. He will be teaching in Grafton, OH at the Old Grafton School in 2024. Robert also teaches flute lessons at Rettig Music in Brunswick, OH.
Outside of flute playing, Robert delights in exploring psychology and its connection to practicing, learning, and teaching. He wants to better understand his own thinking, his students' thinking, and how those can be utilized in pursuit of musicianship! He's also an avid gardener, and has seven super friendly cats!
